Romania

David Bryan

David was born in Newton Aycliffe in England but later moved to Romania. In April 2005, he founded Hotel FM with Gabriel Băruţa and Alex Szűz. The band toured Romania and Germany in 2006 and released a promotional CD in the same year.

In 2010, they participated in Selecţia Naţională, the Romanian national final, and finished fourth with “Come As One”. They returned to Selecţia Naţională a year later and represented Romania in the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in Düsseldorf. They finished 17th in the final with the song “Change”.

Since departing from Hotel FM, David decided to go backpacking and last year was seen auditioning for The Voice in Vietnam where he impressed the coaches when he performed “Somebody to Love”.

Eurojury

Eurojury is the flagship broadcast of Showcase, celebrating the music of the Eurovision Song Contest with juries of up to 180 entertainment industry professionals. Rob Lilley has hosted the televised event since the fourth edition in 2016, succeeding Josh Dubovie and Linda Martin during the show's time as a radio broadcast. Eurojury is known for producing an accurate simulation of the results likely to be seen at the Eurovision Song Contest in May and is often used by bookmakers and broadcasters as a guide and prediction of the grand final result.

Romania at the Eurovision Song Contest

Romania first participated in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994, the country had tried to participate in 1993 but failed to get through the pre-qualifying round. At the 1994 contest Dan Bittman finished 21st in the final scoring 14 points, Romania didn’t make it through to another final until 1998. Romania’s best results in the contest are two third place finishes. In 2005 Luminita Anghel & Sistem finished 3rd scoring 158 points, while Paula Seling & Ovi finished 3rd in Oslo with the song “Playing with Fire”. Romania missed the 2016 contest due to TVR being removed from the EBU.
